The National Masters Track and Field Championships will be held in Athlone on March 8th,
entries are 15 EURO per event
We had a very small turnout at the Cork Athletics County Masters T&F Championships.
Even with the small turnout we took home a lot of championship medals

Aidan covered a remarkable 151 miles to win by 3 miles from the next competitor

The European 24 hour championships were held in Timisoara, Romania over the weekend and there was a strong
Irish contingent present.

At the recent National Indoor championships Rising Sun, represented by Brendan Dennehy, Con Donovan,Michael Kiely,
Michael Dennehy, Aidan Hogan annd Joe Hogan won many championships and medals. Well done to everyone.
Rising Sun won best Indoor and Outdoor T&F Club for 2017. Well done to Brendan Dennehy who was named Munster Athlete of the year.
At the recent Munster Indoor Championships Con Donovan had a great day setting CBP in 60m and 200m.
The 60m time is awaiting ratification as a National Record. Donnacha Dennehy also set CBP in the high jump. Numerous medals were won by

Micheal Dennehy, Breandan Dennehy,Donnacha Dennehy, Con Donovan, Joe Hogan, Aidan Hogan, Billy Caball and Stephen Murphy
Well Done to Aidan Hogan who finished 5th in the Irish Championships 24 hour
marathon. Aidan was also a member of the Irish team in the International section.
Denny Howard passed away recently after a brief illness at Mallow General Hospital, in his 93rd year.
Denny won multiple All-Ireland championships and holds many age group records in throwing events. Above all
Denny was always a friendly person to deal with. Denny is a big loss to his family and to all in Rising Sun AC.
May he rest in peace.

Well done to Aidan Hogan who had a great win in the Tralee Marathon in a time of 3.03
A small group of Rising Sun athletes competed at the recent All Ireland masters indoor championships.
We won 5 golds and a number of silver and bronze medals.
Con O'Donovan was presented with his trophy for master indoor athlete of the year and also received
the Munster indoor club of the year trophy on behalf of Rising Sun.

Rising Sun athletes had a very successful day out at the recent Munster indoor Senior and Masters championships.
We won a total of 13 golds and many silver and bronze medals.

Well done to Aidan Hogan on being selected for the Irish team for the European
Ultra Marathon championships in France in October.
George Webb passed away last Saturday 27th of February. George was our longest serving clubman. He
has won numerous titles both individually and as a team member up to and including National level.George
was always in good form and would give 100% when wearing the club singlet. George was a good friend to all in athletics.

Rising Sun athletes had a very sucessful day at the recent National Masters held in Tullamore.
Ebhana Finnegan had a double in the shot and hammer,
Con O'Donovan had wins in the 100m and 200m, 2nd in the Long Jump and 3rd in the Javelin ,
Toni Finnegan had a 3rd place finish in the hammer.
Denis Howard had wins in the WFD and the hammer and silver in the shot. Donal Howard had 3rd in the WFD.
Aidan Hogan finished just outside the medals in a number of events.

Rising Sun athletes had a very sucessful day out in Nenagh at the Munster Masters and Seniors on January 18th. A total of 11 golds and many silver and bronze were won.
